Day 28 UPDATE OF WHOLE30
It’s been 4 weeks since I started the Whole30 thing, and reflecting back on it I have probably stuck to it around 88% of the time be my calculations.
The main problems are when I’m not at home at other places around the country, planning and being prepared is the key to all of this.
I had to shoot down to Hastings as there was a death in the extended family and I had to go to that, I was quite happy that I know where all my stuff is and I was ready to go in about 5 minutes. To make all of that just a bit better it would be a great idea to have some sort of ready to go food, stuff that is all shelf stable for a long time, it would have cut down on some of the bad types of food I ate on that trip.
If I was to list bad food from the 2 days I was down there it would look like:
- Croissant
- Iced Chocolate
- Lasagne
- Slice of white mudcake
- Tower burger combo from KFC (regular size)
- Chocolate mint chewy chocolate bar
There wasn’t really any time to go to the supermarket to get other options as it was an emotional time for people and other things were happening.
I’m going back down to Hastings tomorrow for the funeral, and have sorted out some water and snacks to take with me, I will see how I go throughout the rest of the day.
I’ve still managed to keep away from chocolate most of the time (except for above), bread and pasta have been very minimal, so has dairy products.
The thing I think I will introduce after these 30 days, the one thing I think about the most and want to add to things I have cooked is Cheese. Glorious melted cheese.
I’m still going to be very mindful of what I am eating and keep my uptake of vegetables and fruit up, although I was rather annoyed the other day when I learnt there were no apples at the moment due to the growing season.
Exercise
I’ve been all over the place the last week, with the travelling, work and sleep there hasn’t been too much time to get anything in, I of course, could have gone for a couple of early morning walks, but I’ve been mindful of how tired I get and being tired when driving a lot for work is never a good idea.
I was keen to get out and to the Parkrun here in Hamilton today, but the whole funeral thing has squashed that plan and I will need to do that on a different day.
Other Thoughts:
I like the idea of the Whole30, and I can see myself doing it again and being more strict and sticking to it 100%, of course if nothing strange is happening and no emergency trips. And I’m not sure if doing it during Christmas and New Years is a good idea or not.
I’ll keep doing occasional updates on how I’m going and if anything major changes.
